Realizing the dream that we have had for a long time now, - spending a week in the Swiss mountains, my wife and me, the two of us without the kids. We plan on hiking along the Aletsch Glacier in order to be exposed to the enormous river of ice.
Afterwards I want to take the kids (2 boys, 7 and 11 years old) on the Glacier Express, which departs from Chur and eventually arrives in Zermatt. I wanted to show the Alps to my kids by riding the train.
In Switzerland, the trains drive through breathtakingly beautiful mountains. At first we planned on taking the Glacier Express, departing in Chur and arriving in Zermatt.
This trip can be made from Davos or St. Moritz as well but time wise, departing from Chur was better for us.
Instead of taking the more expensive Glacier Express we decided to take the local traffic train. They do not drive along the entire route, but we did not mind hiking in between... (PDF Download) |

The trailer has been re-designed by now and it has changed into a “one-4-three” trailer. Now one can use it for any kind of travelling: hiking, bicycling, snow shoe hiking and carrying it on the back of course. The chainstay is well-sprung now and it includes disk brakes as well.
We take the SBB from Zürich to “Meiringen”. The postbus takes us to the entry of the “Rosenlauischlucht”. Visiting the canyon is only worth it, if you have never seen such a massive amount of water in one place... (PDF Download) |
